"     6th Street Fundraiser Buffet

Members and guests enjoyed the hors d'oeuvres before the Santa Rosa Soroptimist Fundraiser at 6th Street Playhouse show  "Moon over Buffalo".

We  honor past members Dora Finnemore and Ethel Polhemus Balbi by continuing to offer scholarships and awards each year in their names for Santa Rosa Junior College students seeking career Certificates from other educational instutitions in our county,  and for students who have been accepted into a Masters degree program at a 4 year college in Sonoma or Marin County.

BELOW LEFT: Santa Rosa Soroptimists plan to continue fund-raising this club year to provide Sleeping Bags and Ground Tarps for youth on the streets in Sonoma County as well as financial support for several of SAY's programs.  Club member Marie and President Sandy are shown below on the far left, standing with S.A.Y.Staff  (Social Advocates for Youth). We thank our local Big 5 for their support and help last November as everyone prepares to load the sleeping bags and tarps into the SAY van for distribution that same day.

ABOVE RIGHT: Our club members were supportive of the "Dogs for Diabetics" program after listening to Dr. Steven Wolf tell how his dog Kermit can tell when his sugar level plumets and he needs to adjust his sugar level right away. Kermit has literally saved his life. We donated $5,000 to their cause so that 7 year old Casey from Santa Rosa could receive his own Diabetic Alert Dog. For more information about  Casey and their Diabetic Alert Dog program, see their website at https://www.newswire.com/news/7-year-old-boy-from-santa-rosa-california-receives-highly-trained-20468248.

We attend and donate financial support each year to the North Bay Go Red for Women Event to help spread the word that 80% of women's cardiac events can be prevented with education and life style changes. 1 in 3 deaths among women are caused by Heart disease and Stroke.

We support fire safety education of children provided by CAL FIRE staff at elementary schools around Sonoma County. CAL FIRE staff and

fire officers paticipate sometimes dressing as clowns, offering comedy at local schools including props, skits and theater puppets.
The program now includes Water Safety and Education about the Smart Train.

HAVE YOU RIDDEN THE RED SOROPTIMIST RAIL CAR  in Howarth Park YET ??  It made it's first run on the track around the park in  February 2017.  Our club donated $50,000 to the Board of the Santa Rosa Parks Foundation for that train car.

Check for Rail Car-2015 Service Club Members Marie, Alice, Lola, Barbara, Chris and Lynn were standing behind our check for $50,000 , presented to the Board of the Santa Rosa Parks Foundation on November 2015. This donation was used to purchase a new rail car similar to the one shown for children and guests at the Howarth Park Train Station.  GO RIDE THE NEW CAR, launched in February 2017  in Howarth Park8

We invite representatives from various organizations or businesses to speak at our club meetings to learn more about how they  benefit the community as we raise Pulic Awareness about our own club.

We hope you will join us at one of our meetings or attend one of our upcoming fundraiser events. We are already planning our next fundraiser for the 2017/2018 club year, and Chair Marie expects that event to be as exciting as the Cabaret event held in January of 2016 .
